Graphite is an AI-powered code review platform designed to streamline the software development process by enabling developers to write and review smaller pull requests, stay unblocked, and ship faster. It was founded in April 2020 by Merrill Lutsky, Greg Foster, and Tomas Reimers. The company initially launched under the name Screenplay before pivoting to focus specifically on improving the code review experience for engineering teams.

Graphite integrates deeply with GitHub and provides a modern developer workflow with features such as stacked pull requests, automated reviewer assignment, merge queues, and detailed productivity analytics. To date, Graphite has raised $72 million in funding. This includes a $20 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) in May 2022, and a $52 million Series B led by Accel in March 2025.
